May 17th

Summer settled in the dining room last night so I think she has calmed down a lot at nights now.
I think she will be in the dining room some nights and front room other nights. I am not bothered which room she goes in and long as she is happy and has a good night. I did tell her about Chubby/Tabby cat that passed away, so maybe she understood.

Andrew and I went into town today- still only a very few shops open.

Later Lindsay and Jamie-Lee came round for a bit, good to see them.

A lot of pain today in my arm, spasms shooting up from my wrist and fingers. I have taken a lot of extra tablets today but the pain still remains. Hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Made a Front Line Teddy for Emmie for her birthday, along with the cardigan I finished a few days ago- the picture on last month's 15th Blog. It was going to be for Jamie-Lee but a bigger size will be better for her.

 Emmie's Birthday Presents.

Now Jamie-Lee would like one but the uniform/scrubs in pink. At least I can now knit, but a lot slower and not for as long.

19th

Dull day but very humid.

Doing the ironing, not much but made my shoulders and arm hurt even though I was using my left hand.

Andrew and I went and cut down the brambles that grew down the little cobbled walkway that I and a lot of other people use to get to Sincil Bank then onto the common. They had got so long they were dropping down and hitting people in the face. We took hardly any time at all. I think the Council is meant to do it but when would that be? They are not the quickest at the best of times.

Andy across the road brought me some radishes to plant, he had thinned his out and did want to waste them. I put them in the garden straight away and gave them plenty of water.

I have ordered Summer some salmon oil for her joints as she is a bit shaky on her back legs when stood still, and a bit stiff after laying down. Very good on her legs otherwise. She can still run fast and has no trouble chasing her ball. She will be 10 years old on August 2nd.

20th

The little girl Izzy who I did the pictures for, gave me a card, a plant, plus some biscuits for Summer. This was very much a lovely surprise. Thank you, Aunty and Izzy.

Her Gran said she had shown everybody that would look, Summer picture book and she was very proud of it.

Weeded the garden then watered it, it's so dry with all this warm-hot weather. Even had to take the toms and cue plants out of the greenhouse as too hot in there. Both doing very well, soon will be planting them in the greenhouse.

Bean another warm humid day still 26-27degC as I write this at 7.30 pm.

Summer was a bit unsettled before bed but I think she was hot as not had her haircut since 2nd March so a bit fluffy.

21st

A bit cooler today nice on the common, Summer was able to run around a bit more without getting as hot.

Arm really hurts today- I am doing the exercises as best as I can but they are not as good as they should be. I think there is something wrong with my arm. The hand does not grip, I cannot hold anything that is the slightest bit heavy. It will not bend behind my back. A lot of pain if I move it wrong. Some of this is RSD but not all of it. I have an appointment on June 8th. Whether I will get this I do not know, I hope so.

Had Jamie-Lee for a few hours- she had tea with us as well. That child can eat--- Her plate was the biggest of the mine and Paul's. She had 3 sausages 2 veg, mash, gravy, and 2 Yorkshires. Ate every bit as well.

We played with the Barbies dolls and Andrew played with her a while too.
Gave Jamie-Lee her Ted I made, she liked it very much but said she needs a dress for when she is not at work and of course pants too. I said I will get on to it when I can.

These are just the clothes as she had her dress on (later picture).

22nd

Very windy and a lot cooler too. Lovely on the common, Summer ran round like a young pup again.

I went with Andrew to get his clothes back from the Police Station from when he was attacked last December 13th. Some were no good as they had to cut them off him. The rest I washed twice and they were like new again.

His case is not going to Court as there is not enough evidence. The main thing is he is still here and well.

Started Summer on her fish oil so see if it will make any difference. There is a ltr bottle so a good trial.

24th

Planted all the tomatoes and cucumbers in the greenhouse, bit cooler and more cloud so give them time to settle in. The rest for Lindsay and Andy across the road.

25th

Summer is now good friends with the little white cat. She will chase it at times but he is not scared of her. There is another cat too, from the same family next door who comes as well, but not as much as the white one. A bit shy this one at the moment.

Fed the lawn with lawn feed all done with left hand. Took well over an hour. Summer was there right next to the hose pipe when I filled up the watering cans. She always has a play at the end, as most of you know, and can get very wet.

Andy across the road came and got his tomatoes and cucumber plant so just Lindsay's now.

Lindsay and Jamie-Lee called round after a bike ride. I gave her the dress and pants I made her she liked them very much and said how pretty they were. Lindsay said she was lucky to have a Nan that could make things.

Spoke to Jay-Jay on his mobile about his arm, he said it was getting better and not hurting as much.
Lindsay had said a few days ago it had opened up and did not look good. After a trip to the Doctors, she was reassured that things were ok. Probably should have been stitched instead of glued.

26th

Paul gave Summer a much-needed bath. She does not mind having a bath/shower at all.

After in the garden on the lawn.

So white now and fluffy.

She spent an hour outside with me, eating a long curly chew so she soon dried off. All soft and very fluffy I cut around her eyes so she could see better.

Got a bit of greenfly so spent over an hour spraying the garden and greenhouse- none on toms or cues that I can see but they might be hiding.

Lindsay bought me a Strawberry plant last week and there is a big one nearly ripe.

The big one on the left nearly ready.

Summer keeps looking at it, as she likes strawberries. I told her we have to share it. Andy came round with a courgette plant for me so that was nice of him. Planted it out straight away.

Andrew and I watched the space x rocket take off to the space station or, that was the plan. Things did not go to plan and the launch was stopped 16 minutes before blast off. The weather was to blame, storms, and rain coming and going. This launch was in Florida so the weather is often like this.

The 2 crew are Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken. They must have been disappointed. Hopefully, the next launch will go better on Saturday 30th.

28th

Early hours around 5am, Summer was barking and crying like she was in pain. I went down to her and I think the smoke alarm had beeped to say low battery. She is terrified of the sound and gets very distressed. She had pulled the front room curtains off there hooks- knocked  2 ornaments off a small table. I went to the back door to let her out so she would calm down. The key had broken off in the lock after she was trying to get out by clawing the door. She was crying and getting more upset and I was doing my best to get her out.
I got a thin knife and turned it in the lock it worked. Summer was calming down outside. Good as I am always worried that she will have a heart attack as she gets so bad.

Now I had to get the key out - good old U tube showed me how-- so all was good again. Nothing broken just a small hole in the curtain. Paul will put them back up later. We had a spare key too so that was good.
An early start for me as only bean in bed for 2 hours.

Jamie-Lee is here for tea tonight. we picked a strawberry that was ready and Paul, I, Jamie Lee, and Summer shared it. Even though I did not have much it was very sweet and nice. Just like English strawberries should be.

Lindsay picked Jammie-Lee up then I was ready for a rest.

29th

Emmie's Birthday so I took around her present of the cardigan and front line bear. She said she liked them both very much. I think the cardigan will fit just right.

Pictures as 17th.

Watering the greenhouse every other day, it has to be well watered as it gets very hot in there. The garden has been watered a lot as well. Our garden is south facing so very hot in the Summer.

Watched the rocket blast off this time all systems were go. What a sight, history in the making. Everything was perfect this time. Hope the rest goes well.

 Getting ready for take-off.

Summer is getting close to her friend Snowy cat, Summer chases him, but he does not always run so they just sit looking at each other.

 Snowy.
   Snowy and Summer.

Well, another week in lockdown so pretty much the same for me. My wrist and arm still not right. I have an appointment next Monday but not sure yet if it will go-ahead just have to wait and see.
I hope all is well with you all, see you next time Love Gill.

May (1)

2nd May

Well another good night with Summer. I think now she is over the worst of her separation anxiety. I am using less spray now. She settles now quicker and looks like she wants to be in her basket.

I brushed her later, her fur is so silky soft and warm just the right to cuddle up to.
Summer likes nothing better than cuddling up to me, as soon as I sit down she is there ready to jump up on the chair.

Not really much else going on- the days are still pretty much the same as they were last month. Most spent in the garden or house. Soon the day will come and we all will be released again to go where we want to. I have not suffered too much but I know a lot of you have. Keep it up, there will be an end.

Summer has got a new friend- this little white cat from next door. She is fascinated by him and spends a lot of time waiting for him to come and see her- crying for him if he does not appear.

4th

A little girl on the common is madly in love with Summer (a lot of people are) I printed her out some pictures of Summer from a pup up to now. (Andrew helped me). I gave it to her Aunty to let her have when she got home. Now she will have Summer with her all the time.

5th

A lot of spasms in my right arm plus pain. I wish it would hurry up and improve. When I hold up my arm- it is not straight and hurts a lot when I try to make it look like the left one. I think it has healed wrong and is at an angle. I do not see anyone Medical at the Hospital till June. Even then nothing is certain that I will still have an appointment. It depends if we are still under some sort of lockdown.

Paul is improving day by day and getting stronger.

6th

Cutting the grass today- Paul usually does it but I said I would, a bit hard with my arm but I managed. I did have Summer helping me. Very warm today.

 Come on let's get started.

Doing a good job Mum.

7th

A few holes on the lawn so I am filling them in with soil, then grass seed on top. The weather has bean very warm so I will have to water to keep it damp. Summer will be happy as she loves the hose pipe and any water.

Seeded some herbs- Coriander, Basil and Parsley straight into the garden.

Washing dried very well ironing tomorrow.

8th

Last day of my ANTIBIOTICS for my water infection, this took 2 weeks worth of tablets but now has all gone. I am very pleased about that too.

Ironing today, still have to do it left-handed, took a lot of getting used to but OK now. I just turned the ironing board the other way. After the ironing both arms hurt.

Watered the lawn with my helper Summer- she got very wet, did she care- course not the wetter the better for her.

Later I did a bit of shopping at Lidls. I was not long at all, the shop was not busy. Kept social
distance away from others as I should, not always easy in a supermarket.
Andrew went to Morrisons for most of the main shopping on his bike. Certain things Paul likes from there. He was not too long either- between us we got just about everything.

10th

My Grandson Jay-Jay badly cut his arm late last night and he and Lindsay spent a lot of the time in A and E. He is alright though had the cut glued instead of stitched. He was very pleased as he does not like needles.

11th

What a change of weather dropped from around 22C to around 9C and going to get colder as the week goes on. Hailstones first thing. Two days ago T-shirt and shorts weather-- today coat on, and hat plus gloves to take Summer for her walk, the wind is so cold, like Winter again.

The cat we have called Tabby real name Chubby has passed away. This was one of Summers friends who with his Brother Ginge used to spend a lot of time in our garden. He had not bean well for a while rest in peace Tabby/Chubby.

My friend dropped me round a pile of puzzles all very good ones. This should keep me going for a while.

12th

Walking through the Fairground common my friend and I saw 2 beautiful young tan deer so lovely. My friend said if she had been on her own she would not have seen them. This common is a lot nearer to the road- so I hope they found their back to the main common. Later on we saw some ducks and their chicks near the lake.

B12 injection today it really hurt a lot and came up in a big lump. Not bean this painful ever, hours later it still hurt.

I started trying to finish off a cardigan I started for Jamie-Lee before Christmas, mostly done just bands and sewing up to do. I did some but made my wrist and arm hurt a lot going into spasms.

15th

My friend Andy's Birthday today- so I made him a cake yesterday, its a boiled fruit one so easier for me to do. Iced it today and took it over with his card and present.

Tomatoes and cucumber plants are doing well- very pleased the way they are growing.

I have finished off the cardigan for Jamie-Lee not too sure if it will fit her now but I am very pleased with how it turned out. I told her if it does not fit I will start another one a bit bigger.

A very pretty colour I think.

Here we are at the end of another Blog-  Not a lot of change a few laughs here and there A different style of life at the moment, an uncertain one too. Things will get better for all of us, we just have to be patient and wait.           All the very best to you all and keep smiling Love Gill.
