July (2)

17th

Checked my batteries on my scooter and found they were not charging up as they should. Even though at the moment I don't use it too much I keep it topped up. The scooter was bought in 2006 so I think the batteries have had it. Hope new ones are not too much money as spent quite a lot just lately.
I will look in to it when I need it more.

18th

Paul and I are having a day out at Cleethorpes a seaside town. The journey was good for me. I don't get as much pain while travelling in the car now on a good day. We walked down to the sea soon after we arrived. They was not much sand to see as the sea was well in land. This was around 11-30am.

We went round the shops and had dinner fish and chips of course, LARGE PORTIONS too.

After a while we had another look at the sea what a difference the sea had gone out and we could hardly see it.

Paul and I on the beach a bit windy.

Later Paul had an ice cream, but I was still too full from dinner. The day was very warm but with the usual sea breeze. We decide it was time for home and Summer. We had got her a chew so she would be happy. Cleethorpes is no where as big a place as Skegness or Mablethorpe but I like it at times because its quieter. Going home was good as well not too much pain. A good day out the first for me since February when we all went to Mablethorpe for my Birthday..

19th

Another fine day warm and breezy. We have bought a new carpet cleaner as the last one is about had it. We got a bargain too reduced from £250 to £169. Paul used it on the stairs and hallway and said it was very good. The carpets were dry in around an hour and it smelt nice too. With having Summer the house can get a bit of a doggy smell at times. Most of the time we have the back door open so its better but in the winter it can be a Summer smell.

Andrew is back today from Amsterdam after a few problems he arrived here around 1-30 am (20th).
Paul had picked him up. He was tired so was Paul but Andrew had a good time catching up with few people. Most of the time spent there was work related.

20th

Age UK Jenny is not here today as she has not bean well all week. I spoke to her and  she says she should be back next week. I was not on the counter much today but doing various easy things, a bit of washing up. stocking up and general bits. A nice steady day but I did have an exploding Pepsi can. I took it out the storage cupboard with some others, and this one exploded in my hand. I dropped it and the spray went everywhere, walls, radiator in the cupboard and all up my leg, skirt and shirt.
Garry helped me clean up. He said the same thing happened to him a few days ago.
No more events for the rest of the day. The cafe was not busy so an easy day for everyone.

Bit of shopping then home. My knee is still playing up and can be painful at times even giving way as well.

21st

My leg is a lot better now. the dressing from the nurse have certainly worked very well.

Picture of my leg still a bit sore but hell of a lot better took nearly three weeks though as I did it on the 3rd July.

Picked my first cucumber today and the one and only radish.
My first one this year there are a lot more to come but the Tomatoes are not doing the best very slow to get going.

23rd

Very warm again but with clouds.
Cleaning upstairs and its making me sweat a lot. There seems to be no air and the breeze is warm as well. Having to stop a lot of time just to calm down a bit and cool off.

My left foot, well my little toe that is, started hurting later on. The pain was like when I first got RSD. Despite taking a lot of tablets the pain would not go. Even when I went to bed around 4-30am the pain was still as strong.

24th

Another very hot and humid day. The storms that were promised did not arrive so still the air is hot. Thursday is meant to be even hotter.

Lindsay is here with Jamie-Lee and Jay-Jay. Her freezer has broken down and she has found another one but just needs to get it. I said I will have Jamie for a while. I gave her the pram and doll that I have had for ages. The doll is a Baby Annabelle, a bargain buy from a charity shop. I think it was four pounds. The pram someone was getting rid of so I had it, and cleaned it up. She loved it and played with it most of the time changing her clothes and feeding her.

Jay Jay was BB gun shooting, making animals with balloons with  Jamie-Lee and a few other things. Lindsay came and picked them both up.

25th

Pilate's was hard for me today as my knee is hurting a lot. The ride on my bike was very nice as a cool breeze blowing. Lost my key for the my bike. Jo gave me a hand to look for it. I had it when I went as its work the electrics, so I knew it was either in the hall or my bag, wrong it was hidden outside in the shrubs. We found it and I was soon on my way home very cool again but pain in my knee swollen more than it was.

Later my sore leg really started hurting. I pressed round it and a load of gunk and very dark blood shot out, a lot of the swelling went down and it stopped hurting as much.

26th

Going to my friend Joys today, it bean quite a while too since I was last there. I walked in to town then got a bus the rest of the way around a mile..We sat outside and chatted, had some sandwiches and tea. Very nice too, good company good food. When it was time to go I stepped out her front door and the heat was like an oven. I went back on the bus, this was hot I had not bean on long when a very sharp shower came down. Most people did not notice as they were on their phones. When they did look up probably after getting drips from the open bus window, they were so surprised that the rain was coming down fast. The shower did not last long and the sun came out again and was very hot. I also caught a bus home again around another mile. Big mistake the bus was full with people with around fifteen standing, in the end. I got a seat with getting on at the station. I was so pleased to get off. I know why I don't usually use buses now. I thought I  had lost my bus pass but I had put it in another part of my bag so all good. I thought typical the first time I use it for ages then I had lost it.

Bit of a storm later that grumbled though out the night.

27th

The air is still hot though even after the storm last night..

Age UK about the same as last week steady but not over busy, nice, I like it like this. Very hot  in the kitchen and behind the counter.

More storms later around six pm,  more heaver rain this time. Very nice and cooling.

29th

Out for a meal today with friends. I had roast beef and all the bits, Paul had the same.. Nice meal but had to be re heated as it was not very hot. I had a pudding, strawberry and ice cream sundae, very cold but nice. Made my head hurt quite a bit.

30th

Today  Paul and I are travelling to Halifax as it Wayne's Birthday. Happy Birthday Wayne. Staying the night. Hopefully I will cope as my left knee at the moment is very sore and stiff.
The journey was not too bad but still pain. I have a very painful cold sore on my bottom lip.
Gave Wayne his cards and presents. We have not got him much, as we hope to get him a new patio set tomorrow.

We went out for an Indian meal in Bradford at a place called the Aagrah Pudsey Kashmiri, very nice too, some of the dishes were a bit fiery. We all enjoyed it very much.

 Paul
 Me
 Wayne.
Some of the food we had.

Not a good night for me not a lot of sleep even less than usual. I think the curry's had made me hot and also a different bed.

31st

Bad head, the same as I have had before, pain in the eye and soft spongy head. Took one of the CARBAMAZEPINE tablets and it helped take the worst pain off..

Going to try to get Wayne a patio set in Halifax, after looking round we got a very nice set for him just what he wanted well pleased.

The new set.

Wayne's cat Timmy. He had the big box that the patio set came in, he loves boxes.
Timmy hiding.

Back home to his house in a lot of pain, popping pills like smarties.
Paul put together the patio set. I cooked tea then around 9-00pm we headed home arriving around 11-15pm. A painful but good day. Good to see Wayne and Timmy Cat.

Well again a bit mixed month end. I was pleased I was able to travel to see Wayne as most of the time it is not possible because of pain. I know I still had a lot but was able to still enjoy the stay and see them both.

Hope things are good with you all and are enjoying the still hot weather All the best love Gill.

July (1)

Well here we are in July and its still good weather too.

Sorting out the car park again, as the weeds have grown fast. This time I put some root and weed killer down so that should frighten the weeds a bit. The trouble was the garage had left two cars very close to own wall so I could not get to the weeds there

A lot of extra pain today mostly in my right foot and left knee. I am trying my best to ignore it. Only a few extra tablets through out the day.

2nd

Another warm sunny day I think the last time it rained was June 2nd. Cleaning up again.

Lindsay is at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield today hopefully this time things will start to go forward and she can get some sort of treatment. Paul has taken her.

My friend John came round for a cup of tea but no cake this time, so we had ice cream instead, he did not complain at all. A good chat with him too.

Soon Paul and Lindsay were back and the news is after this scan they will compare to the other one taken earlier this year, then they will decide what to do as tablets have had a hit and miss affect.

Lindsay and Tracy stopped for tea as well so did Chris, Andrews friend.  Children are on Holiday with their Dad.We had a very good tasty Chinese.

3rd

Andrew came on Summers walk today so that was nice as usually I am on my own. Summer enjoyed it too.

Saw Doctor Mehta in the afternoon, we discussed how the tablets were working,. I said quite well.
He said they were for WEIRD pain I said that will be about right then. Got a prescription for more my regular pills.  When the Chemist gave me them he said 10/5 (strength) but it did not register. Should be 20/10. I think when I rung up the Doctor (4th June) things got confused, and he knocked off the higher one to leave the lower one instead of both of them staying on prescription. We got it sorted out hopefully when I pick them up on Friday all will be well. Very tired to day even nodded off around 11-00pm.

4th

I am back at Pilate's today as I think I can cope with bike ride and the session. Nice to be back again as not bean since 22nd of May. I enjoyed it as well quite tired when I got home but I thought I would be.

Left knee sore and foot still playing up. Oh the joys of RSD. The only consolation is my legs don't grow hair like they used to so do not need waxing or shaving.

Knocked my leg on the garden wall only a deep graze but it hurts a lot and the RSD has made a mountain out of it as usual.

6th

Age UK-- Jenny was back so I was pleased I enjoy the time with her. Not crazy busy but steady. The customers are eating earlier than they used to, before no orders were taken until 11-30am. Now when I go in (11.30) they are already eating. Bit of shopping then home. Still Summers day so quite warm.

The tablets had not bean done right so a long wait at the Doctors and Chemists while they sorted them. This time things are as they should be hopefully.

7th

England playing Sweden in the World Cup Quarter Finals  I watched a bit and the penalty shoot out WE WON 2-0, next the Semi Finals.on the 11th versus Croatia.

8th

Guess what still hot and sunny again I could get very used to this. The heat does not bother me too much. My leg is not looking too good maybe infected as the last few dressing have bean manky. Using some ATRAUMAN I had left when I scraped my leg badly before in July 2011 nowhere near that bad this time.

This is what happened when I slipped off a chair.

I think this is helping, its very expensive I know that as the Nurse said last time. The tablets I am taking for my NEURALGIA, CARBAMAZEPINE are helping a lot and I have only had one bad attack of the pain since starting them on 25th June. Make me a bit wussy some days but even that is wearing off. Good some thing that work against this RSD beast.

Potting my Olive tree but had not got enough potting compost, so went to B and Q's to get some on my bike. Strapped on my bike box and peddled home no problems. Had dinner then soon got it re potted. Hopefully it will be a bit happier now.

9th

A lot cooler day not a lot of sun. Most people will be pleased as its bean very hot.

Changed the bed and did the washing plus two other loads. Windy today so a nice breeze to dry it all. Looks like RAIN yes that wet stuff that we have not had for ages like I said earlier in the blog.

Nice walk with Summer, met a friend so we walked down Sincil Bank with her as she was going home. Her dog had not bean well so it was nice to see her and talk, The dog is better now. She has an allergy to grass and has hay fever. From February on wards she looses her fur, then it grows back. She has bean told this will happen every year. Poor thing she has to keep away from grass and trees in hay fever time.

My leg is leaking and hurts today, Summer has started sniffing it as well. This is not a good sign I am at the Nurse's on Thursday so if no better I will get her to look at it.

In the greenhouse tieing up the toms and cues they are growing well now after not a good start. A few baby cues growing as well and some toms starting to appear.

 Cucumbers.
 Tomatoes.
 Tomatoes.

Got Tommy-Lee and Jamie-Lee for tea and a few hours after as Lindsay is at a football meeting.
Jamie-Lee played with Lego and Tommy-Lee did some BB shooting in the garden. I told him not to shoot Karol our next door neighbour  he said he would try not to. Lindsay came to pick them up and peace for me and a nice bath as I hurt a lot.  No rain.

11th

Pilate's went quite well a good session, on my bike as usual nice breeze if fact a little chilly but it soon warmed up. On the way back a big lorry got a bit close and I had to go quite close to the verge. The nettles were tall and leaning towards me and I nettled my hand. The nettles are very dry because of lack of rain and are falling over. All the way home it hurt.

Football -YES I watched England v Croatia 2-1 to Croatia  World Cup Semi Final We did not win but it was a good match. I understood the offside rule as well.

Andrew went to Amsterdam to day for a few days.

12th

Summer had her hair cut she looks so sweet a bit shorter this time as she is getting hot.

Happy Birthday to my daughter Lindsay we went to see her with her presents she was very pleased with all of them. We got a microwave plus clothes. Her Brothers, Wayne, Andrew, plus Summer and Timmy and us all put together to get her a new mobile phone, She was very pleased with it and said thank you to every one.

Paul took me to the Doctors after Lindsay's for my B12  not too painful, a Student did it this time. While I was there I asked the Nurse to look at my leg. She said it was very gungy but did not think it was infected. She put on a iodine dressing and gave me more. I am to go back if no better when I take the dressing off.

13th

This day 14 year ago this RSD HELL started. 14 years of pain and suffering. This Pain never goes, imagine whats its like to have flu everyday? RSD sufferers don't have to.

14th

Got Jay-Jay here for a few hours he watered the garden and the greenhouse and rubbed down some paint work, We are decorating the hall and stairs, two flights. Paul thought it would be easier with Andrew away. Not as many feet going up and down.

Six weeks today since it last rained 2nd June.

15th

Tided up the toms and cues in the greenhouse, also the morning glory plants, another hot day.
Later I went to see Angela on my bike, nice cool ride. She made dinner and we sat in the garden for a while but it was too hot. We watched a bit of football but it was not the same with England not playing. France won 4-2 so that was good as it was Croatia that knocked England out the cup.

16th

In the garden most of the day. Also washing and ironing. Hot and heavy today a few clouds later as well. I think it will rain.

Caught my sore leg on a box so the dressing was nearly pulled off. The dressing smelt but it has healed up quite a bit. I cleaned it up and put another dressing on it.

Lindsay and family came round for a Chinese, late Birthday tea for Lindsay. I think everyone enjoyed it. I know I did.

As I sit finishing off this months Blog the rain is coming down sounds so nice and the air is a lot fresher.

Not too bad a month apart from leg and I bruised my arm a few days ago on the bedroom door but that's about right now. Hope things are good for you all and you are able to keep cool.

Summer has.

All the best to you all love Gill.
