January (2)

16th

Very cold today on the common, this did not seem to affect Pup as she ran around like a loonie.

My shoulder is tight and very painful, hands going numb. So far (1pm) I have not taken any extra tablets.
Later I had a bath with the oil that I got as a present from Bev for Christmas. This warmed up my body and helped to numb the pain if only temporary.

Spoke to Wayne in Halifax, he said they have got a lot snow. His journey home from work was a nightmare for him and a lot of others on the bus. He left work around six, he phoned us around eleven and still was not home. People were abandoning their cars and getting on the bus, most likely thinking it would be safer. Wayne said the bus was sliding all over the road. What a journey he said. Over night rain got rid of most of the snow.
We had a bit of snow but nothing like that. Halifax has way more weather problems than we do. Lincoln is very lucky or unlucky which ever way you look at it and get hardly any snow.

17th

Pilates journey was good, a quite easy ride, one lady asked me how I got on with all the wind. OK I said no problems. I thought I must have had back wind most of the way, hard ride going back I think.
Pilates session was good but so painful at times pain in both shoulders and arm and fingers went completely dead no feeling at all. The feeling returned after around half an hour but not before causing more hot ache type pain. Even going home my hand was not back to normal. As I thought head wind most of the way. Thank goodness for electric pedal power.

Later while sat down my right heal was hypersensitive and so painful all I did was just brush my hand against it. this set pain off everywhere and again took a long time to settle down again. This time I took extra tablets IBRUES. Quite swollen as well.

19th

Age UK-- a bit late getting there as zip stuck on my coat. A busy day, I dropped a cup and it bounced, my fingers are not good, dropping spoons and many other things as well. Over rung in the till twice as fingers not feeling the buttons well. Polly sacked me not once but twice, even though I don't get paid work there.

Bit of shopping, two pairs of pj's and a dressing gown. My others are irritating my skin as a bit rough on the inside. A normal person would not feel this but someone with RSD it can be very bad. I have a nerve rash at the moment so my shoulders are quite sore. Right foot hurting as I walked back home.
I was quite pleased when I got there today, as very tired. Bean a tough week with pain.

20th

Lindsay around today with Jamie-Lee and Tracy. I have not seen them since New Year as Jamie-Lee has had chicken pox. Now all better, still Tommy-Lee did not get it or Jay-Jay so far.
Lindsay has not had a good week either still bad heads. Doctors are still unsure what is the plan.

Andrew played with Jamie while I finished her jacket off and she took it with her. I will have to get a picture at a later date.

21st

A easy day just sorting out paper work and cooking tea, roast beef for Paul and I, pepper tart for Andrew, plus usual other bits. Not as much pain today but fingers are still not right.

Lindsay phoned and said Jay-Jay had got chicken pox, he was here last week so I could still get them off him. Hope you don't suffer too much Jay-Jay and get better soon.

Later Lindsay got in touch and said now Tommy-Lee has got it as well. Get better soon Tommy-Lee. Jay-Jay is covered in spots and does not feel to bad. Tommy-Lee has hardly any spots and feels bad and is in bed.

My body feels like it is on fire and very HYPERSENSITIVE back being the worst.

22nd

First pictures of the snow drops in my garden.  I have two lots, these ones about a month before the main lot.

My friend here today. He asked me if I would mend his pockets on his coat. He usually goes to the market, I know they can charge a lot. I said give me it here and I will do it now. He was very pleased as bean loosing his pens and money in the lining.

Summer was a bit naughty today she got the lid off her treat tin and ate a bag and half of mixed treats. Andrew said she was clever a few days earlier I got her a new toy-- guess where the treat is.

She did very well at the game and thought she would help herself. When I told her off she wagged her tail and put her head on one side as if to say what happened.

23rd

B12 today, this hurt quite a bit this time. I asked the Nurse about all the joint pain I have bean getting and if it could be the OSTEOPOROSIS, I stopped taking the tablets last year. She said I would have to see the Doctor about it. I will try to get an appointment if I can, not easy now since we have merged with another practice. Bad head today pressure around the eyes dizzy sore neck, when I bend forward. When I do the exercises from physio my shoulders and back are going into spasms. So not doing too many at the moment.

24th

Not too good today no Pilates head pounding and quite dizzy. Joints are very bad hurts to walk if fact, it hurts to even breath. Very tired as well but as usual no sleep. Andrew and I were watching TV when it started playing up so he turned it off. Problem was it did not turn on again. Wayne bought me it less than two years ago. So I will get in touch with them to see what can be done if any thing. Two years is not long for a TV. The warranty was for eighteen months.

25th

Suppose to be meeting friends in town today for a chat and cuppa. Not really feeling up to it but this has bean arranged a while. I did end up going and quite enjoyed the time with them, nice to meet up.

Later I did some more of a puzzle I started a while ago  very difficult one. I finished, with help from Andrew and a little bit from Paul, around midnight.

I agree this was one of the hardest puzzles I have ever done. When I told people what I was doing, most said I could never do that, no patience.

26th

I rang up the television warranty place and spoke to a very informative man who said he will see what he can do. He agreed it had not lasted very long. He needs to speak to Wayne as he has the receipt and did buy it. Wayne thinks they will try to sell an extended warranty then mend it.

Age UK was very busy, straight in with the lattes and cappuccinos this was the trend for the rest of the day. Jenny does not use the machine so it was all down to me. I know my wrists hurt a lot. Setting off the CARPEL TUNNEL.
Got a new zip for my coat decided it was worth the effort of putting it in. I don't like doing zips, find them hard to get straight, then my fingers are not the best with spasms and pain. I never know when they are going to jump or give way. Not too good when using a sewing machine.

I got the old zip removed and the new tacked in ready for machining tomorrow.

27th

I managed to get my zip done, after not a good start. Cotton got all taffled up in the bobbin, then the needle broke. After that things went better and I was able to make quite a good job of it. Hopefully it  will last a few more years now, as its a long parka type coat, warm and fits well.

28th

Afternoon watching Robot Wars with Andrew. Some good battles today, even the big house robots got taken out by one of the battlers. Very good and exciting viewing. I used to watch this quite a lot years ago, seems it has come back again. Afterwards I felt quite stiff and in pain so took Summer out for another walk, she was very pleased and could hardly wait to get out the door. Later I did the ironing.

29th

Cleaning up today downstairs, Paul is helping me.

I have now started my Lion rug this will take a long time to do. I like to have a mixture of things on the go so I can have a change. This is a big rug and will look very good WHEN finished. The grid is quite hard to follow but I will get used to it. Done eight rows so far only one hundred and thirty two to go!!.

30th

Sorted out my crystal glass cupboard, this I hate doing as my hands are very unpredictable so I could drop them. Today my hands seemed quite good or so I hoped. Anyway it was a good day and I got it all done. Shines now and looks a lot better.

Started knitting a small toy called Charlie this will keep me occupied with the rug as well. Nice to have a change I think.

31st

Not at Pilates today again I hurt too much, body very hypersensitive too, headache and tired so I will rest a bit if I can..

Well here we are at the end of January not going too good for me but it could be worse. I wish I could get up in the morning and feel like I have actually bean to sleep and may be without pain. Is that too much to ask for?                        All the best to you all Love Gill.

January 2018 (1)

Well January 2018 what will this year bring? Less pain and discomfort for me hopefully. A better year for my children too. Last weeks PHYSIO so far has not done too much to help but its only the first one. Neck and shoulder very tight. Not sure what is happening with ACCUE as I don't think that is as effective as it was.

January 1st

A cold wet day. Jamie-Lee was up at around eight thirty and well rested. Tommy-Lee around ten thirty. Both said they felt good. Took Summer for her walk on the common and we came back across the Fair common and saw all the carcasses from the fire works last night. Later I took Tommy-Lee and Jamie-Lee to see them. Jamie-Lee was fascinated by them all. Summer was pleased because she had two walks in the morning.
Back home for dinner Lindsay came later to pick them up and they all stayed for tea. Paul kindly bought us all a Chinese take away. Very good it was too.

I have had a lot of pain and spasms in my legs just lately.

3rd

Cleaning up downstairs today. Night time a build up of pain and very bad spasms. I took one BACLOFEN to see if this would relax my body. Not a lot of good, made me feel very light headed. Andrew said I kept dropping off to sleep. My body felt very strange and heavy. At one point I nearly fell off the chair.

My right foot was going crazy in bed, The pain was just like the first RSD pain over thirteen years ago. This worried me as I know it can spread as it already has, the left leg so far has remained good. I will just have to hope and wait and see what happens.

4th

Woke to a very bad headache and feeling very drained. I am sure its the side affect of the BACLOFEN. I used to take this all the time, up to eight a day.

Went to see Ben next door. He is not doing very good, his quality of life is not good now and I feel so sorry for him. He sleeps a lot of the time.

5th

Age UK. Went in early as asked, last weak, by the kitchen manger as we have new menus and she wanted to go through them with Jenny and I. She did not turn up and Polly the chef filled us in. Not a lot of changes so that was good.
Steady day to start with, then a load of customers came in. Lots of lattes and cappuccinos to make. A busy day in the end. Not too good a day for me though, a lot of pills popped. Walked into the main town with Jenny and did a bit of shopping then home. The day started off wet and cold and still is. Dark when I got home around four thirty.

6th

Went to see a little baby today called Rupert, he was born on the 21st December so cute. I took the jackets and mitts round, I had made last year for him. The smaller one looks like it will fit now, they both love them.

This one we think will fit him now.

 This one for later.

Rupert fell asleep on me then woke for his feed.

7th

A sharp frost today and sun at last but not feeling too cold on the common. A nice walk for a change without getting wet.

A lot of pain today, more so when I try to rest and relax. That's the thing with RSD not letting you
try to get rid of the pain, it's as though it enjoys making you suffer. Suffer you do as well. A lot of spasms in my legs. My right leg is giving way a lot. My hands are terrible too, dropping a lot of things.
Just another day in a life of an RSD suffer. People look at me and think there is not a thing wrong with me and actually think I am a very fit person. Yes I am, compared to many, but not like I used to be.

8th

Lindsay (my Daughter) phoned and said Jamie-Lee has got Chickenpox. I have not had this so I need to keep away. I have already bean told Chickenpox would be very bad for me. To the point of may be have to be in Hospital. WHY because its would affect the nervous system, which is already under attack from everything else. I still might get it as they were both here for New Year. Tommy-Lee so far has not got any signs of it, Lindsay did say he did not feel well.

10th

I feel very drained but that has become the normal for me. Lack of sleep and pain is not good for any one.
Pilates today first one of the year. This went quite well still shoulders are bad. A lot of spasms every where. I took the lady, who brought me home last time when my bike went wrong, some flowers. She was very surprised and pleased as she said she had no flowers in the house. I was very grateful to her as she saved me a lot of extra pain as I would have had to pedal without electrics. This I can do for a short time. There are a lot of hills around the Washingborough area. I just need to get new brake pads, as brakes at the moment are not good. I need to use front brake as well. As I said a lot of hills down as well as up. The down ones I usually just turn off the power and free wheel down. GREAT feeling.

Bringing my bike in the house my right leg gave way and I fell causing my knee to hit the radiator full force. I screamed as the pain was so bad. I felt sick, then the RSD full body pain hit me. I had to sit down as my body was under attack and it felt like I was plugged into the mains, with pain every where shooting throughout my poor body. This took nearly an hour to release. My knee swelled up and had the imprint of the radiator. I got away without serious damage though.

I am doing the exercise Neal the physio gave me, well one causes spasms so I have stopped that one. I have an appointment on Friday so more exercises will probably be added or taken away.

11th

At last my friend Bev is here I have not seen her since last Autumn. We had a good long catch up chat. Exchanging presents as well, Christmas and Birthdays. All her family are doing good. Her son Russ, I used to run with, and he spent many hours here, playing on the Wii or just chatting. That was until he moved away.

12th

Age UK I just got to the counter and there was an order for cappuccinos then more orders followed. A very busy day. Hardly a minute to think. I had bean serving and had no chance to even speak to   Jenny. Joy, Sheila also Angela and her friend, came in but I had little chance to talk to them either.

After my dinner-- we get a free one as a thank you for volunteering, I set off up the hill for my physio appointment. I told him how things had bean and what exercises were helping and the ones that were not. He gave more to do as well and back in three weeks. After I walked back into town and did a little bit of shopping. Around five thirty when I got in, very tired too.

13th

Went to Halfords to get new brake pads for my bike, eighteen pounds in all. These I will try to get on later today or tomorrow. I do not need my bike  till Wednesday.
When I got back Andrew was down and listening to folk/country music.  Paul was at football.

15th

I managed to put on my new brake blocks and got them adjusted. Now I can come down the hills with a bit more confidence as the last two weeks my brakes have not bean good. I was quite pleased with myself as well, I don't know much about bikes.

Leg pain today when sat again. Doing the exercises that Neal has given me. The new ones seem to be better as he said its not an easy fix and will take time. At least the Pilates have helped  as a lot of the moves are the same as he has given me to do.

Well that's it for this Blog in two parts, to see how it goes with views.

Hope things have started well for all of you and RSD is kind. All the best Love Gill.
