August

August 1st

Sad day today, my friend Debbie, her dog Mr Kipling, suddenly passed away. She is devastated, she lost a dog around three years ago suddenly too. Both dogs were fine a few days be for. Poor girl I feel for her. I lost my dog Summer, over two years ago by someone being careless with antifreeze. She was in very good health and would have gone on for a lot more years. In fact she was in perfect health. All the checks she had at the vets proved this. This was the first and last time she ever went to the vets for being ill just injections and health check ups.

2nd

Would have bean Summer's fourteenth Birthday today. I still miss her so much. This was my  much loved little Westie dog that passed away on January 6th 2023-- though being poisoned by antifreeze .

Wayne and Kayleigh here for the day. So good to see them both, they are doing well. Wayne had a bit of a health scare but is better than he was. He had to have time off work which is very unusual for him. Back now though.

Lindsay and Jamie-Lee came later to see them. We gave Wayne his Birthday presents for the 30th July. Mostly he got money but also a few bits as well. They are going back home around six so not here for very long. Paul was at the Lincoln City football match, so less people for him to talk to, so we had a good chat. A lovely day for me. I am hoping that I will soon be able to travel to see them as I have bean on a few trips that are further away that have not bean too painful. They live at Halifax around two hours away if traffic not too bad and no accidents.

All too soon it was time for them to leave and say goodbye to them both. Safe journey home.

4th

Saw my friend (who lost her dog) on the common looking very sad. She said the other two dogs are pinning for him and are very sad too. I said if there is anything I can do just let me know.

I am having a bit of a rest day today as very tired. Bean doing a lot of extra things as well as my own house work. Like doing the shed with Paul and also the garden. I have CHRONIC FATIGUE as WELL as FIBROMYALGIA  and RSD. All of these drain the life out of me, also are very painful. Too much pain will bring on the SEIZURES as well. My nights are very short around five hours in bed but not five hours sleep.

6th

Got some brambles off the common for a crumble I am going to make. They are very early this year and most have gone soft. I think this is with the heat we have had and still having. Even the leaves are beginning to fall off the trees. Autumn is definitely going to be early this year.

Cleaning up down stairs today got it all finished around three.

7th

Went to the Bomber Command center with friends Jenny and Gwen. We went in Jenny's car. A lovely place where you can go and see the war stuff.  Jenny  wanted to go and see the poppy display which was outside, this is in the shape of the Lancaster bomber plane but only can be seen properly from the air.. The center edges to the common, so as you look down you see a wonderful view of Lincoln city. All the military people who served in the war, Lincoln area, had their names on stands. There were little gardens as well with veg and fruit in as it would have bean in the war. A very enjoyable day and good to see Gwen again as bean a long time. I used to work well, volunteer with her at Age  UK. She was a paid worker the cook, and a good one too. Everything was good she made. Until they started making the food less quality and more  processed. A lot of the regulars stopped coming and went elsewhere.

Later me and Andrew went for a walk on the common. The rain came down and we sheltered under the trees. Soon the sun came out and we carried on. Luna enjoyed it as well, she doesn't mind getting wet at all.

8th

Nice walk with Luna another walk with Andrew later, no rain today. We went right to the top to see if we could see the poppy display but could not. I was not exactly sure where it was though. Looks a bit different looking up to it. Some of the common was very overgrown as well so not accessible. I have not bean to the top of the common for a long time. The climb up is a tough one and makes your legs ache.

9th

An easy day today as I am feeling very tired and pain  is not good. No tea to cook either as take away Saturday

The order is taking a long time, our usual one had a fire so not open. We ordered off another one. We live a mile from the city centre so there are loads of take aways. Some good some not so.This took ages to  arrive, hope my stomach can cope with a very late meal.  (IBS) Around nine thirty the meal arrived. Very tasty, not quite as good as ours. Paul said the duck pancake rolls he had were really good. Paul had the other one for tea the next day. Ours do not do the big ones like these.

I have Cory-James's jacket done now just need to get the buttons.

Paul painted the back hallway walls as looking a bit tired. They look really good now.

10th

A very warm day23C at one thirty.

Changed the bedding also gave Luna a bath as well she rolled in the horse poo. She smelled a bit too, was surprised the water was not more mucky.

11th

 Another very warm day again.

My friend Joy came to see me today she is doing well. Despite losing a lot of weight she still  struggles to walk well. She has a seat walker to help her.

Going to see my Brother David and sister in law Bev later, as it was my his Birthday yesterday. We got him snacks and sweets plus toiletries'. He liked the snacks very much. A lot he had not seen be for. His sons were there as well, two of them (He has three) all well. One is a night security guard so was getting ready to go to work, the other one had just come home, forman builder I think.. My Brother retired last year and is doing up motor bikes and odd jobs. Bev was also well.

12th

Very warm today cleaning up .30C and did not drop overnight much either, around 20C + and very humid too. Did not finish the cleaning upstairs till gone five, as I had to keep stopping to rest. No way was the oven going on today I did salad and tatties. Very good it was too, or I thought so.

13th

Downstairs cleaning to day. Still hot and humid but cooler than yesterday.

Lindsay and Jamie-Lee came round but I still managed to finished the cleaning. Jamie-Lee is going to a sleepover near here at a friends. So, she had tea here- sausages and chips. We had that too later very nice new tatties chips so crisp and golden.

14th

Quite a lot cooler today 27C at one forty five.

I did not go to Pilates this week as too tired, bean a busy week, hot as well. It's a ten mile round trip on my bike so I thought a bit much for me today. I was hoping to go next week but my Doctors have made an appointment for my B12  next Thursday. I could change it but it be might be a long time for the next one. So I am going to stick with this one.

16th

In the garden a lot to do tidying up and moving things behind the shed.

Starting knitting some more Izzy dolls. I will put up the picture later in the Blog.

17th

Knitting Izzy dolls and started doing the teddies as well, same pattern different head. The teddies are easier as just as tea shirt and body to do no trousers or boots etc.

Cooked tea, toad in the hole three veg and roast and mash tatties, and gravy very nice it was too.

20th

Good walk on the common with Luna we got back be for the rain started. Some of the trees are going bald and  have hardly any leaves left. The other have just gone brown. There are so many conkers this year and they look big too. I got Andrew some brambles to make some sort of sauce with his chillies. There are not many left, and they are going bit soft. I think this will be the last lot now. At least for this year any way. The radio said Autumn will be early this year I already know this from the common

Cleaning up downstairs most of the day. Quite a bit cooler so better for cleaning. Rained later as well. We need rain as bean very dry. Very dry and warm this Summer.

21st

B12 injection today, not too bad for pain. The nurse said if its done slowly it will hurt a lot less and I know she is right. After I went into town to get any bits I wanted. I do not go as often as I used to now so need to make the most of this trip.. Coming home pain was quite bad, not just my arm after the B12, but everywhere. Sometimes this will happen after a pain will set off the RSD torture. It's times like this I wished I had my scooter with me. At the moment I can not get it out the house as no ramp, but hopefully that will be soon sorted as the step and passage is going to be leveled off. There will then be no need for a ramp at all.

I called at the Cats Charity shop on the way home, and got 100grm balls of knitting wool for 50p a ball. The wool lady sells these for £1.50 a ball. So a big saving and I all ways need wool. One ball will knit a small 0-3 months baby cardigan. Tired later but I had done a lot and extra pain as well.

22nd

Went on the common mid afternoon for a second walk with Luna and Andrew. We took Luna's football too, she had great fun playing with it and was panting a bit as well. This is something she hardly ever does. When we got back she had a good sleep, about two hours till her tea time around seven ish.

23rd

Sorting out the internet wire today as it has bean renewed as there was a break in it. Paul and I got it all sorted. Under the carpets and floor boards. Just want the man to come and permanently connect it all up now. At the moment temporary setup, so it can be used. Hopefully it will be a lot better and faster speeds as well. That way Andrew will stay connected in the shed, his office.

Got the ironing done and a bit more knitting of the Izzy dolls. I also sewed on the buttons of the little jacket I made for Cory-James (Great Grandson.) This is for Christmas so ahead this year.

Cory-james's jacket.

29 Izzy dolls.

I am still making these but the hats sets are all finished now. These little dolls take a lot less time round two hours + to knit and sew up.

25th

In the garden today sorting out plant pots and garden stuff. Took off the dead leaves and flowers. Watered it all as still not a lot of rain here.

26th

Cleaning up most of the day takes a longer than it used too, have to keep having rests. Quite warm as well today 27-28C.

Pictures of hat sets as promised.

Large  size sets.
Small size sets.
Medium size sets.

Hat and mitts sets. 24 in all.

Again I did not go to pilates as dizzy and so tired. I rung Jo up and left a message.

In the afternoon went to see my Brother Malc and Sister in law Pam as its Pam's Birthday to day. I made her one of my big blankets. She loved it and said it must have taken you ages. I said yes many hours and around five hundred stitches on the needles at one point. Corner to corner blanket- you start with four stitches' get it as wide/big as you want it in this case around five hundred stitches- then go down to four again cast off finished. Easy-- but they take a long time to do.

At one time Pam was very ill and not given much hope to live 5 percent after a stroke and brain hemorrhage. She was laid on the floor for over five hours till Malc came home from work to find her. She has done very well so has her husband Malc to look after her. That is why she gets an extra special present and attention.

Very pretty.

We called at the crematorium to see my Mum, Dad and my Brother, left flowers. Even though it's bean over fifty years since my Brother passed away- Motorbike accident at seventeen. Over twenty for Mum and Dad it still hurts and I miss them all so much.We also went to see Mr and Mrs Lambert's grave. They used to live next door till they both passed away. Miss them also.

29th

Went into town today as my distance glasses have not fitted right since I got them a few weeks ago. The optician soon sorted them out and they are feeling good now.

I got Jamie-Lee presents for her Birthday next week September 8th same as her Brother Tommy-Lee. Jamie-Lee will be thirteen and Tommy-Lee nineteen. I have not got Tommy-Lee anything yet, will have a word with Lindsay his Mum. Most of their present will be money though.

Very tired and a lot of pain too the sort that does not go. Worse when I sit down, I took extra pain tablets but it did very little to help. No joke when trying to relax and the pain just keeps striking back. Go away I do not need you or want you..

30th

Going to rest properly to day and NOT do little jobs at all. Just a bit of knitting or sewing up of dolls may be. I did do two lots of washing though.

31st

Changed bedding washed and out to dry, dried very quick I was able to iron it all mid afternoon.

Cooked  a chicken breast  tea very good as well. Enough chicken for Luna's tea tomorrow. She loves chicken very much.

Pictures of my crystals and glassware that are now back again in the display cabinet.

Well here we are at the end mostly of summer time, weather is changing- back endish as my Dad used to say. Autumn has already shown it face too. The trees are losing their leaves and darker nights are here, weather a bit cooler but better for most.

Not too bad a month for me no more health scares. (Skin Cancer June 4th) Plenty of pain though, this usually gets more as the weather changes and gets colder. It could be worse. Hope you are as good as you can be. All the best  Love Gill.
