June

June 1st

Luna has been sleepy today. I have bean cleaning up downstairs, not easy with a little pup helping me.

She is still going out for wees and poos having very few accidents in the house. You have to watch her all the time as she does not get much warning that she wants to go. On the whole, she is doing very well. She can jump quite high now and loves going into next doors garden Karol's. He is going back to his home in Poland very soon so we will have someone new next door. The house is going to be sold so it could be anyone. It has bean a rented property for the last twenty years.

I feel hot and cold today and my pain levels are high. My joints feel on fire and hurt a lot.

2nd

Lindsay and Jamie-Lee came around on their bikes. Jamie-Lee played with Luna and they were both tired. Lindsay did them some tea, and soon after they went home good to see them.

Fast asleep it's a hard life being a Pup.

3rd

Mary and Rory dog, came round he was Summer's boyfriend. This is the first time he and Mary will have met Luna. Poor dog I feel for him as he still looks for Summer and can not understand where she is. I know mate I miss her as well very much. I gave him a big hug and cuddle. He was very gentle with Luna and they got on well. Later on, I lost Luna I went under the stairs and thought Luna followed me. There is an under-the-floorboard gap and I thought she had gone under there. No, she was not but, I could hear her. She was not under the stairs but had gone up them. Andrew was coming down and saw her going up.

I do not want her upstairs as it could be dangerous. So she will be told to get down by everyone. Some people have dogs in their bedrooms and even in bed. If that works for you that's good, but not for me. No other dogs that we have had went upstairs unless they were carried like to see me when I am I'll in bed.

5th

Sweeping up outside today there is a lot of sawdust from where Paul has bean sawing wood for the fire pit. With it beaning windy there is sawdust all over the path and patio. We need rain to wash the dust away I will hose pipe it down. Paul has been painting a wall in the garden. The bit next to the wall is to be Andrew and my new veg garden, it used to be tubs with flowers in it.

7th

Digging over the new veg plot, there are a lot of stones and excess concrete under the soil so that needs to be dug up or pulled up whichever it takes. Hard going to start with, but easier over the second half. Andrew and I are putting in a lot of the things that would have gone in the greenhouse. We might still be able to keep it there depending on the new people. I hope we can and the bit where Andrew had his tobacco plants too.

8th

Debbie came round to bring some magazines and to see Luna, she loves her and says she is very preety. Debbie spent a long time with Luna on her knee just cuddling her.   In the afternoon Andrew and I put up the nets for the peas and beans. These have bean growing in the greenhouse well some have, but the rest will be seeded straight in the ground. We get a lot of sun so they will soon grow. Luna was trying to help but was not. Every time she got a stone and we tried to take it off her, she ran around in circles almost making it impossible to get her. Everything took a long time. The afternoon was very hot as well. One thing I have noticed with Luna is, even after running around she does not pant at all. The heat so far does not affect her apart from making her tired

9th

Not a very good night for me in fact a very bad night. I did not take my nighttime tablets so I went into withdrawal. Sweating hot cold a lot of pain too. My body needed MORPHINE and was saying give me it.

11th

Very humid and heavy today.  The pressure I think is high, at 11 am the temperature was 23C. This is not good for me as pain as well. The weather has bean very nice but a bit too hot as it looks like there is more to come, with no rain as such.

12th

Another nice day, but so humid got to 29C mid-afternoon.I am cleaning up very hot and sweaty. According to the weather, it might rain or it might not.

Ness who used to live next door came to Round to see use not seen her for a while. We had a good chat and a cup of tea or two. Next time she said I will have to go there to see their new bungalow.

13th

Another hot day but a bit more breeze. Rung up the vets and registered. This is a new vet from the one Summer had, also a lot closer too. Luna will have her second injection and in ten day's time she will be able to go out for a walk.

In town today having my eyes tested. I need two pairs of glasses one for reading and a pair for long distances. £150 cost, got the second pair at half price so that helped a lot.  My left eye is not very good so I need to see a specialist.  I did not leave there till 4.40pm, I got there at 3.15pm. I had many tests and scans done.

14th

Paul is cleaning the carpet in the dining room as it's very mucky.   I know it will dry quickly as hot again with a breeze.   We will be getting another one soon, but not till Luna is completely house-trained. This one is not very old but the back has separated from the pile.

15th

Very hot I am doing the ironing sweating like mad. There are sheets today as well as a quilt cover. Plus shirts and trousers. Took around an hour and a half.  I had to sit down afterwards.

Luna is at the vet today for her injection and check-up. She had her nails clipped and her second injection. In around ten days' time, she will be allowed out.  Andrew is making her a collar. Her neck size is seven inches at the moment. Next week I have to weigh her for her flea stuff. When we came back from the vet Luna had a sleep and did not seem affected by her injection, but she might be later.

17th

A bit more cloudy day and a bit cooler. Andrew's friend Roberto is here today from the Neverland's stopping for a week. I just need to finish off his room and take a few things out. He stayed in this room last year and said he was very comfortable. Roberto arrived around two o'clock, and Andrew went to meet him at the station. We had an Indian takeaway and everyone enjoyed it.

18th

Very humid today; my head is booming. Lindsay and Jamie-Lee came here as it was Father's Day. Lindsay cooked tea for Jamie -Lee she did not have any. We had tea a bit later so Jamie-Lee was eating on her own. Very heavy later a bit of rain came down with thunder and a few flashes of thunder. Luna stood at the door and looked out as if to say what's this she had never seen rain before. After the rain, it did feel a bit cooler.

19th

Not feeling the best today heavy air hot and very still. Did two lots of washing, it dried very well. With the rain yesterday the garden looks a lot better and not as dry. Luna was a bit excited at bedtime so did not settle well. I came down to her and she settled after a cuddle I think she was over-tired.

I did not have a good night, I kept waking up in pain in my legs.

20th

It's a wet start not said that for a long time, the air was sweet and cool. Going into town today to get a few bits for Andrew's Birthday.  Roberto walked down with me and we did not get wet at all. The rain held off till we got back home. Did alright in town but did not get shoes, I will order them online.  He is getting BB guns plus the bits that you need to use them.

21st

Happy birthday Andrew hope you have a good day,  One of the guns might need to go back and it seems it does not seem to fit together right. The other one was working well and Andrew and Roberto had fun shooting targets and tin cans. Andrew has sent the online shop an email. We had a Mexican meal for tea very good, wish I had more taste to enjoy it better. I still like Chinese food.

23rd

Paul. has taken Roberto to the airport in Birmingham to go back to. Amsterdam he said he had a good time here but was ready to go home. He was missing his wife and his cat. On his way back he will pick up the flea tablet for Luna. Paul got back all well at the Airport. He got the flea tablet for £20.00 for one I will be finding some other place of getting this. The vet says she needs one every month.

24th

Writing this Blog today, I had not done any at all so it was nearly a full month's at one go. Karol from next door is going home to Poland this weekend so Paul asked him round for a Chinese meal tonight. He did not come, so probably busy saying goodbye to one of his mates. Luna has bean asleep a lot today as it's hot and humid. 27C at six o'clock.

25th

26C at 11 am and getting hotter. I told Paul it was a salad for tea, no way am  I having the oven on today. Later the temperature rose to 30-31C the hottest day so far this year. Very humid and heavy my head really hurts and I feel very tired. I picked up my new glasses, both pairs were ok but might need a bit more adjustment later on. We had rain showers in the evening.

26th

A bit cooler today with more cloud. Doing a bit in the garden and sewing up the 4ply cardigan I have made. Just the pink one to make now that's in DK (double knit) wool so a bit faster, well twice as fast as twice as thick wool. Karol left for Poland early this morning he and his cousin are travelling in a big van with all the things he is taking back to Poland. Across on the ferry then driving till they get there. Good luck Karol in whatever you do there. He will let us know when he gets home. Not sure who will have the house next as it going up for sale. We have lived here forty-five years and always had good neighbours, so who will be next? Will I be able to keep the greenhouse in their garden or have to remove it? Only time will tell. The same with the back of us that has always been a garage car park is going to be built up soon as an old people residence.

27th

Cleaning up downstairs, trying to get all the flies off the ceiling and coving, the ones that come in at night, there are loads of them in the corners. I used the vacuum to suck them up a warm job it was, all done now. I have started doing a bit of the pink cardigan going well pattern is easy too.  I can only do it if Luna is asleep or playing otherwise she gets the wool. Karol sent Paul a message that he had arrived home safely.

28th

I am up first today as Luna was crying. Not a long time in bed, four hours. Very heavy air today had a bad head for quite a few days now, dizzy at times too. We need a storm to clear the air. I made a spaghetti bolognese for tea, and Paul said it was good, I still have not got my taste back yet, some things I can sort of feel on my tongue others nothing.

Luna did not settle well the past few nights she has not bean the best. I went to bed at five. Even then she was not happy. She was a bit sick earlier so she could have bean a bit hungry. Paul went down and took her out for a wee, he gave her a few biscuits well. She settled after. I had to be up around eight as Paul was volunteering at the hospital and had to leave soon after eight. Another very short night. Hopefully, she will soon settle at night.

House training is very good she knows to go out and does so, she will sit and lie down when asked. Clever girl Luna. Jamie-Lee can get her to do things as well. Luna likes children so when we take her out, next week. She will be near the park so there should be someone there to fuss her.

29th

Quite a bit cooler around 22 C at the highest today so quite a drop from yesterday, cooler air too. My clothes airer/line broke today and snapped halfway across the bottom. I held it up with the patio table but that did not last for long, broke off completely. In the end Andrew and I used the wrought iron umbrella stand. That worked well even when it got windy. Paul is getting a new airer today as we knew it was getting done for. The last few times I have used it, it's bean very wobbly. Paul came home with the new one which he will fit soon.

30th

Paul put up the washline/airer so all go again. A cooler day feels quite chilly to me. cleaning up but took longer as Luna was helping. After a while, she went to sleep so I was able to finish off. When I washed the floor she was hanging on to the mop. I had to pass her on to Andrew as I thought she would get hurt because she would let go of the mop and go flying across the kitchen I thought she would end up hurting herself. All done time to sit down, the Radio 1 charts are on. The charts are where you find out where the pop hits are at the moment. I have listened to this since I was around twelve or thirteen on Radio 1.

Things in the garden are looking good and after the rain, have grown a lot. My tomatoes in the greenhouse are still not very big so will be late, very late.

Well, another month has gone by and this one went very quick. Luna has settled in very well. I miss Summer a lot and wish she was still here. Luna is a little friend for me and company for the times I am on my own. Best wishes to you all and hope things are good with you all.

Love Gill. x

.

May.

May 2nd

Cleaning up downstairs then a bit more knitting. I have a headache today, so I will rest a bit if I can. Andrew looks a bit better than he did but still looks all in. He still aches a lot and is quite weak. Lindsay and Jamie-lee are still testing positive for covid.

3rd

Did Aprils Blog and published it, Andrew usually checks it but he is not able to even think straight at the moment. He is improving but slowly. Lindsay rang and said both she and Jamie-Lee are now clear of covid. Suey is doing very well also. At sixteen years old she is doing brilliantly. Lindsay is carrying her up the two flights of stairs so a bit of a pain for her. She is not going out for wees as much now, so only a few trips up and down the stairs. Suey is a very calm and good girl, she will listen to Lindsay and help her by staying still while being carried.

4th

This is what I got Jay-Jay and Molly for baby Cory for his Birthday present. The jacket is the second size properly around three-six months. Might fit him sooner as he is bigger than average.

The sloth plays music and there is a light for sleep time.

The little jacket I made.

I am not coping too well at the moment thinking about Summer and missing her so much. When anything tragic happens you need someone to blame and at the moment that's me. Everyone is saying get another dog, I think I need a bit more time or do I?

5th

I am looking after Andy's cat Smudge, for the long weekend, while he is at his parents. He will be back Monday afternoon. There is another cat that he feeds, but not seen him yet though. Smudge is very loving and likes a lot of attention if he does not get it he will swipe you.

6th

Watched a bit of the King's Coronation. I am not a big Royal fan, but I do like to see the Children. Not a very good day so a lot of the air display was not done. The Red Arrows did a bit and some helicopters went over. The sky was thick with clouds and was raining most of the time. Shame as that would have bean the best bit of the day. We live a few miles from Waddington where the Red Arrows are stationed so see them practising a lot and hear them, the sound is very loud. Woke Andrew up a few times and he was not happy as he felt so ill. They should calm down till the next show. I saw the other cat at Andy's a big black and white one he has called Seefur. Still a bit scared of me but stayed in. I think he was hungry and watched me do their food.

7th

A hot day yes-- hot 21C in the mid-afternoon, pity it was not like this yesterday for the King's Coronation. Very warm bit humid though and gave me a heavy headache, normal for me. I am usually in pain somewhere but there are a lot worse off than me. A lot of that is down to me pushing myself in every way, so the RSD did not grip me any further. There is a saying in RSD- "USE IT OR LOSE IT". I think that is why so many people get worse. They cannot cope with the pain and take more and more tablets to the stage where they hardly know what day it is, never mind exercise. I know because I was in that trap as well. Bit by bit I increased my movements and knocked down the MORPHINE. This was hell, and the pain obviously went up, But I persevered and the RSD backed off a little. Bit by bit I had a life back. Someone who came to see me could not believe that I was sitting on the floor playing with Summer. He said he had never seen me like this before and I looked so much more with it. Must have bean a good day. A lot of RSD sufferers find this very hard to do and believe me it's tough. Even now I go through extreme pain, but a lot of the time just keep it to myself.

Andy messaged Paul to say his Dad had Covid hopefully he has not got it.

8th

Going to have an easy day as I feel so drained. My eyes are so dry and sore. My eyelid sticks to my eye. I keep putting in drops but the relief is very short. I did a bit more knitting and not much else today apart from doing tea.

9th

I rang up the lady Helen whom we got Summer from as a Pup, to see if she knew of any pups that are for sale. She said not at the moment but she would ask around. I had a long conversation with Maxine the groomer who used to cut in Summer. She said what sort of pup are you thinking about? I said a cavapoo was one I had looked into and seemed a good choice. Maxine said it was an excellent choice, but to get it vet checked. A bit later in the day  Helen phoned up and said a relation of hers had some cavapoo pups, she was not sure if they were reserved or not. She said she would ring me back to let me know.

10th

Hair cut today- badly needed this, my fringe was halfway down my nose and I had bean sweeping it to the side. Looked good as usual after the trim, it's so simple for me to have my hair done at home. Less noise and no waiting; so good allround and cheaper too. Ten pounds (plus a tip) for a trim well a bit more than a trim today.  Made a beef curry for tea from the beef joint we had a few days ago. Very good - spicy too, my taste is not fully back yet. but Paul said it was very good and tasty. I can feel spice and strong flavours on my tongue, but not much more.

12th

Washing out and drying well. Andy came round and asked me to look after his cats. He is at his parents as Monday is his birthday. He will be back Wednesday. Went for a walk with Andrew as he feels a lot better now and needs to move about more as his legs are very stiff and tight. We walked to the park gates then turned around and came back. He did well for the first big walk since being ill. We had a short walk yesterday. We all think he had Covid; a bad dose of it too. All mostly recovered but still very tired. We were not home long then I walked to the doctor for my B12 injection. Not too bad this time but still hurt for the rest of the day. The nurse asked if they are as painful as most people said they were. I said yes they are, mine can hurt for quite a few days but at other times only the same day. Some people say it stings as well as pain. Mine is mostly the pain but can sting sometimes.

13th

Rung Helen up to see if she had heard anything about the pups that a relation had. I had to leave a message as no answer. I am feeling a bit lost at the moment and think it's time for another little friend. Fed Andy's cats Smudge was there so was Seefur I think he thought it was Andy at the sink, it was not till turned round and saw it was me that he realized. He did not run off though I think they both were hungry. I phoned up about a little Cavapoo pup, a little girl black chocolate, white, and so very pretty. Not ready to leave the mum yet around ten days time I think. Her Mum is a Cavapoo and her Dad is a KC-registered King Charles spaniel. The trouble is it's about an hour plus away.

Can I do this trip? We, me included hopefully are going tomorrow night.

15th

Blood tests, the needle went in fine no pain (my veins are very thin and fragile they have to use a pink baby/ child needle. When the needle came out it was very painful a big mountain lump came up as the needle was pulled out. Also, it would not stop bleeding. The nurse put on a pressure bandage very tight and said to leave it on till bedtime if you can.

We are going to see the little pup tonight, hope I can cope with the journey. I Managed the journey quite well with extra tablets be for I went. The little pup was so sweet and tiny. Her name is going to be Luna and we can pick her up in a week's time. Not too sure how I felt but it was very hard. We paid a deposit and will pay the rest when we pick her up. Here we go we have a little dog.

Luna's Mum, Treacle.

Little Luna is six and a half weeks old and so tiny.

Her brother and sisters are in a pen like we are getting for Luna.

On the way back a lot of pain and discomfort.  My arm is still bleeding so I had to put the pressure bandage back on after taking it off, as it was too tight and making my fingers go numb. At last, we are home but first calling for chips for tea. Later a lot of pain and a bad headache. The chips and curry were good though.

16th

Our little great-grandson Corey- James, a big boy 9lb 6 ozs-was born to Jay-Jay and Mollie,  Both are well but Mollie is so tired.

Cory James.

Going into town today with Andrew to get some bits for Luna; basket and dishes. We were not successful as nowhere had anything we wanted. Will try at the stores out of town.

17th

Andy is back from his weekend away a good one he said. Gave him his present two bars of chocolate which Paul got for him. He said he would enjoy them. Told him I had seen Seefur and I think the cat thought it was him at the sink. Later Andrew and I went to B and Ms and pets at home we got a basket dishes and toys for Luna. Andrew chose the basket and we both chose the dishes. Just need the pen and we are ready for Luna. The swan that has bean sitting near the sluice has now two little chicks very cute. When Andrew and I go past we will see them grow unless she moves on.

18th

Another warm sunny day. Our past neighbour Squidgy came round for a cup of tea and chat. All is well at their house, they are in the bungalow now and Mum is in the Granny annexe all very happy. I gave him Emmie's Birthday present for the 29th of this month. I told him about Luna and he was pleased. He will bring Emmie around very soon.  I think she is a bit bothered about coming round to see us as she was Summer's friend and played with her. Before Summer, she was scared of dogs. Squidgy is waiting for his driving license back after a small heart problem. He should have got it back around March 21st.  He has already bean passed by his Consultant.  He is not very happy, but hopefully, he will be driving soon.

Angela came round and Andrew sorted out a new fitness smartwatch for her. She is well and seems happy. Nice to see her it's bean a while.

19th

Sorting out Summer's things in the food cupboard, her chews and bits. I found some Christmas presents she never got.  I used to give her some every day but when she was ill nothing. I did not know that this would be her last Christmas This was very hard and made me cry I had to stop for a while.

20th

I am sorting out all Summers teddies and toys today another hard job to do. Her special ones I have just put them in a bag as they are to be kept for now. I washed them all. Luna will have a few to play with. Paul is putting a new fence up, so unable to use the washing line. So I put all the teddies on the airer in Karol's garden next door. Andrew and I went for a walk along the river bank quite warm today with a cool breeze.

21st

Another warm day. Paul is doing more bits in the garden. I am doing lots of little bits. I have nearly finished off the cardigan for Liam and Fiona's baby due in late September, just the hood band to put on. I have two more orders for two cardigans. I have the wool I need one is 4 ply, so that will take a little bit longer.

We are now ready for Luna coming as all the things we need now got. Just need the pup. I saw my friend Debbie and showed her the picture we took at the breeders' house. She thought she was very cute,

22nd

My brother David came around to give us a quote for a new patio and fresh turf. We did not realise that he was starting straight away. He said he probably be finished Wednesday or Thursday. He is a Landscape Gardner and very good at what he does. I had a bit of a cleanup downstairs. The stuff for the garden has to all come through the house so not the best. There will be sand and cement, a mixer and slabs plus many more bits Did a lot of washing so could a while be for I can have the garden back. All dried so that's good.

Garden be for David transformed it.

23rd

David is here doing the patio, there will be the new turf for Luna to piddle on as well. Not long now before we bring her home. I still have mixed feelings about her, and I know Andrew does, it's time for a new little friend to join the family.

Cleaning upstairs today and it's very warm work too. I did all the ironing too very warm work Andrew was working on his bracelets, so we watched some episodes of Sorted Food off the internet very funny they are four friends from their younger days. One is a chef now and the other three just love to cook, with guidance from Chef Ebers. Paul is taking a friend for a hospital appointment at Grantham.

24th

The turf is being taken up today ready for the new tomorrow. David has put the turf in big sandbags that are around three-foot square. There are two of them full to the top. I am going to shake them to get the soil off as it is very good topsoil. I started putting the turf in other smaller bags.  The garage car park at the back of us is empty and going to be built on later this year, an old people's home. The man in charge went past, and I was talking to him, he asked what we were doing I told him, and asked him if we could throw the grass at the side of the waste ground. He said yes this saved a lot of work so I was very grateful to him. Andy from across the road came around to help as well.

Our garden gets very hot as it's South facing and is lovely to sit in. Andy went home and I carried on with the shaking of the grass. By the end of the day it was all done and we had loads of topsoil. I am tired but pleased it's done. We are using Karol's garden next door to put things in, he is very good and lets us use his garden more than he does. This will not last as the house is up for sale and Karol is going back to Poland. Not sure what will happen to the greenhouse as it's been in next doors garden for over twenty years. There are a lot of bits going to the skip on Saturday. Andy has some things as well so he will help Paul to load up the car.

25th

Turf here today David said it will not take long to do he was not wrong. The garden looks lovely. David has done a great job as he always does. Like me, things have to be right.

The garden looks good a big improvement to what it was. We now have lots of topsoil.

We are picking up Luna today everything is ready for her. We have got her a pen so she will be safe at night and when I am working and don't want her under my feet. I just hope I can cope with the journey as it's over an hour away. Taken a few extra tablets so I hope that helps. We picked her up and she sat on Andrew's knee all the way home.

Home, and pleased as well. We took her outside all the grass was done and she laid on it. I do not think she had seen grass before. Dawn the breeder said she had bean paper trained. She had a wee on the grass as well, cleaver girl.

I like this grass stuff.

Getting tired now.

Both of us are asleep.

She ate her tea, tiny little kibble biscuits The dishes we got her were too big, and she could barely reach them. so I found some little Chinese dishes which were good.

Luna's dish for now.

Asleep on my chair so tiny.

Nightime, I sat and cuddled her to sleep then put her in her basket in her pen. I went up to bed around 4am. Paul came down later and she was not in her basket he was worried and looked for her. He found her in Andrew's shoe how she got out her pen was a mystery.

Luna among the shoes.

Later while Paul was sat in the dining room with Luna in her pen he saw how. She had climbed up the corner like a little monkey. When he told me I was surprised. Andrew was impressed it's around two feet high. I will have to make some form of top to keep her in.

Safe inside for the moment.

Luna looking out.

I managed to put a top on her pen I think this will keep her in.

26th

Not bad a night with Luna  I came down twice. At least she did not get out this time. She is going out for wees and poos. Seems a bit sleepy but it was a big day yesterday. Lindsay and Jamie_Lee came round with Suey. Luna was ok with Suey and Suey was gentle with her. She loves sitting on my knee and going to sleep cuddled up. No pictures of Luna and Suey together as Luna was just running around too much so Suey went outside Luna went to sleep enough for one day.

Luna is asleep on Jamie-Lee's knee.

27th

Andy came round him and Paul are going to the tip to get rid of the bits from the garden, Andy has some things to go as well. Debbie came. Round to see Luna and thought she was lovely. She lost her little dog Sooty, not long ago a spaniel, so it was a bit hard for her.  Luna is getting more confident but is still very shy with strangers. Doing good going on the grass and has had very few wees inside. She will go to the door and goes out on the grass herself but not at night. I think she is a bit scared of the dark. Cuddled her to sleep then put her in her basket inside the pen and went to bed at three-thirty.  Hope she stays asleep till morning

28th

The dog next door is left on its own a lot and barks and cries, this upsets Luna and she is not very settled. She keeps eating stones and to get them off her is very hard as she will run away from you. Cleaning up a bit today as a mess with all the garden stuff coming through the house. Luna had a good sleep late afternoon. When she woke she was like someone possessed running around and making little growling noises. She took herself out for a wee, clever girl. We thought she would have trouble with the back doorstep as quite a jump for her but not easy for her, she just jumped up and down with no problem.

29th

Went to see Jay-Jay and Molly,s baby Cory James. He is a big boy and doing very well. We gave him his presents Molly liked the cardigan and it looks like it will fit him very sooner than six months. While I was holding him he got hungry so Molly had him back to feed him his bottle.

Great-Grandad.

Great- Nan.

Bed a bit earlier around. two thirty-ish, hope Luna sleeps till morning so I can get some sleep.

30th

Luna slept all night I know it was a short one but at least I did not have to get up. She has settled very well. Eating well and having good sleep. Still feels a bit hard for me as I loved Summer so much and miss her,

Asleep on Paul.

Awake and ready to play.

A different month this time, with getting Luna. She is very cute but it's still hard for me. Andrew feels it as well but loves Luna a lot so does Paul. I think when I can take her out things will feel better. Hope things are going good with you all. Love Gill.

April.

 April 1st

Started making a teddy bear for my friend Debbies Birthday, on the 5th of April. I know this does not give me much time, it's already cut out so that saves around two hours. The fur is very thick so the stitching takes a lot of doing. I could do it on my sewing machine, but, if I do it wrong it's a lot of hassle to unpick it. Went quite well, sewing a bit hard on my fingers. I stabbed myself a few times and made my them bleed. The worst bit was getting the joints, nose and eyes in place. They just would not go in and snap together because of the thicker fur I think. I gave up- and will try tomorrow. The trouble is my hands are not very strong and my grip is not good either. The joints are all safety ones, once in they will not come out. I found this out once when making another teddy. I put the leg I think it was, where the arm should be or an arm where the leg should be. I had to cut a new leg out and resew, but it was all well in the end. Hopefully, things will go better tomorrow.

2nd

Bed around 4am, I did not feel too good today a lot of pain and still getting bad headaches. Once I was in bed. I must have gone to sleep and was woken up by barking, I started to get out of bed. Then I realized it could not have bean Summer. After that, I could not settle for ages.

Did a bit more of the teddy today it went better and I managed to get all the joints in using a nut (nut and bolt type) and hammer the nut helped hold the long part of the joint called the shaft, and just a sharp tap on the hammer they went in. I did have to redo the nose as the shaft broke but that was quite easy to put right. I just cut off the shaft and used another nose. Just needs stuffing now and it will be ready for Debbies Birthday. Last year I made her a knitted Womble and she loved it.

Mr womble. Orinoco

  • I looked after Jamie- Lee from about six pm till around ten thirty pm so that was nice. She showed me the crochet things, she had bean doing and they look really good. She has made headbands, and part of a blanket so far, that I have seen. Jamie-Lee went home now time for me to relax if the pain will let me.

4th

Started knitting a little baby jacket for Jay-Jay's and Molly's baby. She said she has loads of things. So I making a six months plus size. My Nephew  Lliam and his wife Fiona are having a girl so I have started on a blanket for them. Their baby is not due till September so plenty of time. I still need to finish off Andrew's hoddie so loads to be getting on with.

5th

Happy Birthday Debbie, I gave her the presents and she loved the Teddy.

Jeffery.

She said I was very clever. She did not realize to start with, I had made him. Andrew had given him the name Jeffery. Debbie said she might keep that name for him. I had three unexpected visitors today Jenny, Angela, and Andy, well Andy I see a lot. The other two just came and sort of knew I would be here, I mostly am. Not really bean out much since Summer passed away. Apart from the walks Andrew and I do, going late afternoon so not many visitors at that time. I used to always go out with Summer first thing. I have missed the common very much as used to seeing my friends there.

Pauls's Brother Malcolm was admitted to the hospital with pain in his side. Paul took him to the hospital after Malcolm rang him up. He was vising Pam his wife, when the pain got unbearable. Pam who is temporarily in a care home after her broken leg last month. She now has a brace on it. The leg she broke is the one that was the most affected by her stroke a few years ago, so she has not got much feeling in it, so not in too much pain. Malcolm was put on a drip, nill by mouth, and told that it might be a bowel blockage but will do more tests and scans. Paul got home around two thirty in the morning. Lincoln Hospital are not very fast at doing things.

7th

Finished off the knitting of the Aran jacket now, and added a hat with a bobble, which took three attempts to get right. Still need to put the toggles on but have none so I need to go into town.

Looking after Andy's cat Smudge, today and at breakfast time he was waiting near his door and wowing as if to say come on, I want my breakfast. He was soon fed and happy again. Andy is only away one day so not too long for him. I left him to eat his food and told him I would be back later. When I went back mid-afternoon he was not as hungry so I played with him for a while, then left him again to eat what he wanted of his dinner. One more visit then good night Smudge.  Andy will be back sometime tomorrow. Paul went to see his Brother, and Malcolm said he felt a bit better, hungry but not in as much pain. Andrew and I went for another long walk no shopping this time though. Felt quite warm as well is Spring on the way?

8th

Went across to feed Smudge and he was sitting outside again waiting for me. Fed him Stayed a while but he was more interested in his food so I left him to it. Going to see Pam today and take a few clothes and bits, probably washing as well to bring back. Pam was well, her leg in a brace thing. The leg is the one most affected by her stroke, so not much feeling there. Not sure how long she will be staying there. With Malcolm in hospital, there is no one to look after her, as Malcolm is her sole carer. Andy is home today so Smudge will be pleased, He is a very loving cat and likes a lot of attention. Malcolm phoned and said he can come home today. He will be seen as an out-patient.

10th

A big storm today with thunder and lightning and with downpour rain. The air was a lot cleaner after, as I can feel quite bad as it affects me with headaches and just a very heavy body. Pain everywhere on a really bad storm day. Yesterday I know it felt very heavy. Andrew And I braved a walk hoping we would not get caught in the showers or storms we keep having, as some are very heavy. Another long walk and no- we did not get wet, just got home in time.

11th

Sunny start to the day, quite mild too. Washing and general housework. Paul is helping Lindsay move the last bits from her house to the flat, that will be home till a bigger place is available. She has to carry her dog Suey up the two flights of stairs, she is sixteen years old and finds the stairs difficult not an easy task as she weighs four stone.

13th

Happy Birthday, Malcolm, have a good day. Pam is coming home today so that will be a good day all round.

Cleaned up downstairs. Andrew was going to B.Q. so I decided to go along for a walk. I was quite tired and ached a lot but I thought the walk would maybe help. On the way back we saw one of our friends. He is the son of Ben who used to live next door, permanently in a wheelchair after a bad car accident. He had a new dog, and very friendly he was. He did not know about Summer and asked about her. I told him and he was very sorry. He has lost dogs so he knows how hard it is. Nice walk but I was so tired my short nights do not help, four hours of broken sleep a night is not good.

Paul picked up a cooker for Lindsay as the flat had not got one, not new, but Paul said it was in very good condition. Fitted in now and ready for trying. She cooked sausage casserole for their tea. Everything seems to be working well and she is pleased with it. Things are getting done in the flat so that's good. The flat is very warm as new boiler and radiator have just bean fitted. The old house was cold and drafty.

A wet day, hardly stopped raining all day. I sorted out all my wool and wound up any balls that had got tatty.  Started knitting a baby jacket for my Nephew Lliam and his wife as the baby girl is due in September. I am making it a bigger size too as she has a lot of things already. Lindsay phoned up and said Suey was not well. She thinks she has a prolapsed womb. A trip to the vet he thinks the same. He tried to push the prolapsed back in but could not. She needs an operation, not good as she is sixteen years old. Come on Suey you can do it.

Look at the beautiful sky we had at sunset.

So lovely.

15th

A phone call from Lindsay, Suey is ok and doing very well, come through her operation, and should be home today. There was a tumor in her womb so a full hysterectomy was done plus an extra bit inside her bits. Well done Suey. They are coming here for a few days, as Lindsay will not be able to carry her upstairs with a stomach wound. Suey is not too bad a bit dazed and wobbly on her feet. Lindsay gave her a bit of chicken roll and she hooved it up. Jamie-Lee and I did laugh. Jamie-Lee will have the bedroom and Lindsay and Suey will have the front room.

16th

Andrew and I decided to go for a walk taking Jamie-Lee as well. We went along the river bank ending up in Boultham  Park. Andrew and Jamie-Lee had a great time going on the climbing frames and other activities. I went on some but most of the time just watched them. We left the park and walked back home. I cooked tea roast beef for most of us. Sausages for Jamie-Lee and Tommy-Lee (Jamie-Lees Brother) joined us as well. Everyone enjoyed their tea. Andrew did not join us, eating later instead.

17th

Quite a warm heavy day. Suey is doing well, sleeping most of the time eating a bit and going out for wees.

The Mars rocket was meant to blast off today but did not, something to do with the pressure. The next date is Friday.

18th

Met Joy in town, the first time this year I have seen her. Had a cup of tea, that Joy treated me to and a good chat. Got some more wool and a few other bits. Also a crochet set of Harry Potter's Luna for Jamie-Lee to make. Being looking after Suey while Paul takes Jamie-Lee to School, so she is not on her own. A sunny day but a cold wind from the North. I felt funny, later a headache, and not right but not sure how to describe it. After being in bed for a while I realized I had not taken my night time tablets. Came down and took them and soon felt better. My body had gone into withdrawal because of the MORPHINE.

19th

Looks like another nice day. Suey improves every day and is doing so well. I leaned over into the bin slipped and bashed my chest against it I think I have cracked a rib, it hurts to breathe in and move the slightest bit. Finished off the Aran jacket and hat for Jay-Jay and Molly's baby Cory James.

I think it came out nice it's a pattern I like doing, so I think that helps.

22nd

Jamie-Lee has a friend here so she is happy today. Her friend is the granddaughter of a friend I used to visit quite a lot. They both had a good time playing outside with snails. They both like Harry Potter. Her friend was dressed as Harry Potter.

23rd

Leg of lamb for tea today but it was not cooked enough, so it was sausages all round. Lamb tomorrow instead. Funny because Lindsay's friend Cherel asked me how to cook lamb, I could not even get my own joint right.  Suey is doing amazing-- here she is in bed, She likes to be covered up as feels the cold a lot.  A bit camera shy too.

Recovering well.

My chest is a bit painful and I have to hold myself when I cough or lean forward. I am sure I have cracked a rib and bruised my chest. Breathing in is painful.

24th

Three big loads of washing all dried just got it in before a big shower of rain. Suey at the vet to hear if the tumour was anything sinister. Good news no cancer or anything like that a bit of infection that will easily clear up with the prescribed antibiotics. I cleaned around but the vacuuming Lindsay did to save my chest from hurting. She got me a different brush for my vacuum so she used that and said it was good.

25th

Cold to begin with then very warm, people in shorts and T-shirts. In town today quick visit, I got Jamie-Lee some wool for her crocheting. I also got some for a baby jacket for Jay-Jay's and Molly's baby boy that will soon be here. The wool lady had got in new colours. I am doing a pattern from a lady I follow on youtube- Shiela, when finished I will show it here. The jacket for my Nephew Lliam and his wife Fiona going well, also the blanket is growing. I will put up a picture when both are finished.

Woke up feeling a bit hot and headache. Lindsay has not bean well for a few days, with a headache and muscle aches. Jamie-Lee says she is not feeling well either but you can never be sure with her. They both have tested positive for covid. Lindsay asked if they should go home. I was not too sure. Could she manage Suey up the stairs without hurting her? In the end, Lindsay decided to go. She packed up their stuff and they were gone. Hopefully, things will be ok Lindsay is not very strong at the moment.  I asked if Tommy-Lee could take Suey up and down the stairs? She said Tommy-Lee was scared of dropping her.

Lindsay bought me a hot water bottle deluxe. Used later in bed, it keeps my legs and feet warm. Thank you Lindsay I said you did not have to buy me anything for having you stay here at all.

27th

Washed all the bedding from Lindsay and Jamie-Lee's beds. Just about dried be for it started to rain. My friend Debbie was here so she rushed off to get her washing in too. Paul is away this weekend for a Charity do. So just me and Andrew here, he is not too well either. Rang Lindsay up all doing well she is coping with Suey up the stairs, but only just. Nice and quiet without Jamie-Lee who loves to try and prove you are wrong in some way. Most of the time is wrong herself.

28th

Paul left this morning and will be back on Sunday midday ish. He is calling at Lindsay's to take the bits that got left behind when they went. I am going to clean all the upstairs over the weekend and change our bedding.

The Mars rocket took off with a massive blast but something went wrong in the sky and a controlled explosion took place, but it did take off which was the aim of the launch. Well done Space X. It was a hell of a blast and did quite a bit of damage to the launch site and beyond.

29th

Rung Lindsay, things are improving and Suey is doing very well. Lindsay said her back and shoulders still hurt. Andrew still hurts, but his legs hurt more than his body. Ran him a bath to see if that will help. All you can do is go with it and wait for it to run its course. I had a bath later and Andrew listened out for any problems. I have had seizures in the bath, so meant to have someone close by. Not sure what Andrew could have done if the worst had happened. I was ok and had a nice bath and hair wash. All upstairs is clean and tidy again. Andrew and I had a small Chinese neither of us had much appetite. Very nice what we had though. Paul is home tomorrow around midday like I said.

29th

Paul arrived home just before midday he had enjoyed his weekend. Washing and more knitting today, an easier one as bean very busy over the weekend. Doing this Blog. Will cook tea later but not too much else.

Well, another month has gone by,  Spring I think is here for us in the UK anyway. A mixed Month with Lindsay being here with Suey, This was hard for me after Summer, but nice in some ways as she is a very loving dog, and gentle too. I miss Summer so much. I am pleased things went well for Suey and she at least was ok. All the best to everyone love Gill.
