December

December 1st

Well here we are in December The trees are looking very different now. The common looks bare and deserted.

Not quite deserted---   Summer

Age UK very busy and I have a lot of pain and spasms. Taken a lot of tablets today with little relief.  Struggling to get by today, hopefully when I have my dinner I will feel better. After dinner I did start to feel more normal but still too much pain. Polly offered us all chocolate pudding. I sat with Steve and we both had some. I did not eat much of my dinner, but this was going down quite well.

I left Age UK and did a bit of Christmas shopping getting quite a few presents.
I got my glasses sorted out as well, these are for reading. The first pair I got were too big for me so they exchanged them for this pair. Hopefully these will be better.

Joy is out of hospital as well so that's good news. She  has not bean in very long. She will cope though she is a very determined lady. All the best Joy I will see you soon.

3rd

Quite mild today, I did not even have my hat on the common, so it must be warmer.
Having a few pains and pressure around face and eyes last few days. Feels bad when I lean forward pain and discomfort. Sinus I think hopefully just the cold air and not anything more.

IA Christmas dinner was very good I had the Christmas tradition meal apart from the pudding, this was Bailey's cheesecake very nice too, made me feel very full though. When we got back I took Summer for a walk and felt a lot less full. Paul went to sleep.

Frosty start today. After Summer walk I gave her a good brush and got around two good hand fulls off her.
Went to see Joy in the afternoon. She is I think doing very well. Obviously still in a lot of pain, apart from that she was quite happy and looking forward to getting about a bit more. She had run out of tablets so I said I would get them for her and bring them back tomorrow.

Me-- I have a lot of joint pain and spasms going on. Temperature changes are going crazy as well. One minute shaking  cold, next wet though and very hot, like prickly heat feel going on as well, and I have not moved. Well hopefully when I see Doctor Mehta he can help with something.

5th

Took Joy her tablets, she is going to the bank today with her nephew, take care Joy. When she phoned me later she said it was very hard going and painful. I said it will get easier its early days.

6th

Pilate's I struggled a lot today as pain stopped me doing hardly any arm moves. Never mind I did it my way and still got some benefit from the session.

7th

Saw Ben (next door) today he is doing quite well and said he was quite happy.

In the afternoon Tracy picked me up and we, plus Lindsay went to Jamie-Lee's school play She was dressed up as an Angel and was smiling at us. The play was about three Angels that always messed up when trying to do things. Very good it was too and the singing was loud and in tune. I have seen quite a few School plays over the last few years. All different some still do the Nativety but with a twist.

8th

Age UK again and it soon comes round. A better day all round for pain. We did have some very rude customers, inpatient and saying we were very slow at serving. I had a lot of cappuccinos and lattes to do and these take time. Some people will moan about anything I think they expect four star service for a one star rate. Anyway apart from them it was a better day than last week. Jenny was back as well, she has bean quite ill, and has to have some tests done.

After I left Age UK a bit more present shopping then home one of my bags broke on the way and things fell out. I managed to squeeze them into other bags and got everything home. Very tired tonight, just sat and did some knitting.

9th

A very cold frosty start on the common, snow on the way I think. Yes I was right it did snow but not too much.

 The Cathedral standing proud.

I have iced all my Christmas cakes, look pretty good I think. They were left on the dining room table to dry then after the frill put on they will be put in the tins ready for Christmas presents tomorrow

10th

More snow and frost over night. The next few pictures taken from the bedroom window looking into the garden

The bird feeder with Mr Pigeon looking on.

 Queens Park.

Summer had good fun on the common in the snow she loves it and makes snow Angels by moving her body and head.

Joys Birthday today eighty years old. Not going to see her today as going out for her dinner at her nephews. Going tomorrow instead.

I finished off the cakes -- Pleased with them too.

 All ready and done now.

Cleaning up today and putting up the Christmas decorations.

The Lincoln Christmas Market for the last day has bean cancelled, something a lot of people are asking WHY. We have had round about an inch maybe slightly more in places. The roads are clear as well. That's the City Council for you.

My  Aloe Vera plants has got a buds on it. this has not happened before so I looked it up on the good old web. it said its not too common for it to flower, has to be the right conditions. So it must have bean just right. I will up date the pictures as it changes.

11th

A bit more snow over night very cold as well. A very winter wonderland  scene today.
Andrew came on the common with Pup and I. She was rolling around in the snow and playing ball. Very cold too it was too, but Summer kept warm, even though at times she was covered covered in snow. I had to rub the snow off her legs. That's the trouble with a little dog close to the ground.

Summer loved Andrew playing with her as usually its just me and her on the common. She likes to play ball, but I can not always throw it for her.

I still have a rose blooming in the garden.

Into town with Andrew to look around, cold wind heading there as facing north. Had chips and curry for dinner they were very tasty and we both enjoyed them. Andrew took the shopping and I headed to Joys. She liked her presents of a Joy mug and a a large Yankee candle. She had bean to physio and has been given more exercises to do. He is quite pleased with her and said it will take time.

Stayed there a while then on to my Doctors. He said my shoulder/neck and knees needs some physio and has arranged this for December 28th. Pain wise and temperature changes there is not much he can do. Also has said how I can reduce the MORPHINE safely. That will be next year now though. I got him to look at some bad veins on my left foot. He said unless they get life threatening, they now leave them alone. Quite a few years ago I had my right one done this was blocked and causing big problems. I was still running then. Bean given ANTIBIOTICS for a possible sinus infection.  I have bean having problems for a few weeks now.

12th

I think we have had another layer of snow over night or could be just a very sharp frost. Cold on the common but nice as well. Very fresh feel, Pup did her usual and had a good run and roll around.
Later on it rained so there will not be much snow left to morrow.

13th

All the snow apart from a bit here and there has now gone. My Dad used to say when it hangs round it waiting for more to come, then it all goes away together. Not quite as cold but still a frost over night.

Pilate's I was not sure weather to go or not as hip has moved again and hurt quite a lot. I did go, no trouble biking though. A fair session but shoulder and hip painful. I got soaked coming home as hail and rain came down about a mile in. I had my waterproof trousers with me but decided not to stop and put them on. As it meant taking off my boots, gloves and undoing coat on the road side. My legs were very cold and blue by the time I got home.

15th

Age UK party I am helping out. This as usual is the last one of three they put on every year. A few changes since last year so hopefully it will go better. Around eighty plus older people sat down to a three course dinner. Everything went very well. Very tired as I did shopping on the way home.

16th

Sinus I think has improved a lot so the ANTIBIOTICS have done there job. I have a blocked sinus so not completely clear but a lot better. The heavy feel and pain have gone. As one thing goes another seems to take its place a lot of pain and burning around my right shoulder. Very annoying and sore.

Looking after Ben and Emmie tonight so that's always fun. All went well with the children and they were both asleep when Ness and Squidge got home.

17th

Went with Angela, to see a friend in Hospital, she had a fall and was taken in. Not very pleased at being there though. Nothing really hurt just a shake up. Hopefully she will be soon home. A few things have to change before that happens as she is getting to the stage she needs help.

18th

In town today with Andrew and Paul doing a bit of Christmas shopping.  Very cold with a sharp frost and cold icy wind. With the grandchildren getting older its hard this year knowing what to get them. Jamie-Lee has bean easy. Got a few ideas now and we will top up the rest with money both Jay-Jay and Tommy-Lee are very fashion smart boys and like to look their best.

19th

My Brother and Sister in law here to day to exchange presents. Both are doing not too bad.
I have now taken the last ANTIBIOTIC so will soon see if this makes a difference. My face feels better and not as tight and sore.

20th

Last Pilate's today till 10th of January. I always check the battery on my bike before I set off I don't want to run out of juice, yes half power so OK. Well that was the idea-- I ran out and had to peddle about half way there around two and half miles. I think the power was on the low side of half.
I asked if anyone had a pump as back tyre was almost flat, not sure if I got a puncture. A lady said she would get me home by putting my bike into her car. I did not think it would fit in, it did or else a hard ride home. When we go back I will get her some flowers as it was a lovely thing to do and I was very grateful.

Went to Angela for her Birthday tea,  picked up two friends on the way John and Vera. A nice afternoon, hope you had a Happy Birthday Angela.

21st

Dentists check everything good, teeth also gums. Not back for a year.
Did the rest of Christmas shopping and was pleased with how much I crossed off the list. Happy with what I got hopefully the boys will be too.

Weather is mild again no two days the same just lately.

I am looking after a friends cats for a few days feeding them and checking up on them.

22nd

A easy day as pork/turkey buns plus soup and drinks. I met Joy and we went to Age UK together. After I helped her with her shopping.
Carried on to the Doctors after to get tablets all fine today. Over the last few days I have bean having a lot of bad nose bleeds. Could do without that as I don't want to get ANAEMIC again. I think it because of the infection and the cold air. Hopefully it will soon clear up.

23rd

Very nice walk on the common with Pup frosty and cold. Cleaning the bedrooms and washing today.

Plant opening out a bit more.

After tea Paul and I went to Joys to take presents. Joy is doing better now but still a long way from normal movement in her arm. She put out a few snacks and drinks. Very nice too. Thank you Joy very nice.
Later I watched some old Top of The Pops a lot of Christmas ones like Slade and Wizard. All the classics ones I like.
Ironing later with another bad nose bleed. Feels very cold tonight I think a sharp frost for morning.

24th

On common with Summer I thought my running club were doing the Annual race but it was not them. I think the Triathlon club instead. This always makes me feel sad as I want to take part.

Well Christmas -- Lindsay here with Jamie-Lee in the morning. She helped me make little sponge cake. Sat on the work top near a fresh boiled kettle, near a toaster and coffee maker, with a knife in her hand. Health and Safety would have gone mad!!!  The cakes were very nice, she does not like cakes too much so did not eat any. They will be iced tonight also making the Mince pies as well later.

Paul is picking Wayne up from Halifax to come here for Christmas. They will be eight around the dinner table tomorrow. Hope things go well.
The cakes and mince pies turned out very well and were tasty, well you have to try at least one.

25th

Merry Christmas everyone. A hectic day with all the children and grandchildren too. In the end nine for dinner. Everything went well and dinner was a great hit with every one. Present were opened and everyone thanked. A good day but very noisy and hard work too but very good all the same.

Walked back with Jay-Jay to help him with his presents as he could not carry them all. The rest are being picked up tomorrow. Everyone was going to stay for tea as well, but most were still full from dinner so headed off home. Rest time for me a long day with a short night.

26th

Headed to the Crematorium to put flowers on Mum's, Dads and my Brother Phillips stone. Very cold so I did not stop too long.

Went on to see Merriam the lady who had the fall. She is now in a rest home for a few days to get her strong and walking better. As soon as things are put in place at her house for her safety, she hopefully will go home again. I gave her her present, Biscuits, chocolates, Christmas cake and mince pies. I stayed quite a while. Bike all good now and no puncture just a bit flat. Electrics good as well.

27th

A wet day with cold rain with bits of snow.

Paul's parents are here later for tea. A good day Andrew and Wayne here too.

28th

Wayne is going back to Halifax today, Paul is taking him. A very cold day frost and icy wind.
Cooked dinner and after I got a lift to the Hospital for some physio on my shoulders. Paul carried on to Halifax with Wayne.

The physio was painful but hopeful all the same. He said my shoulder is badly damaged with the RSD and everything else going on, but should be able to help a bit. Massage first, he then pulled and tugged my right arm. Very painful at times. I am to go back in two weeks and do some exercises he has given me and heat pad when sat down.. Walked home still very cold and frosty. Bad headache later. Paul got home around nine.
29th

Age UK last one of this year. We only had on one main and pudding choice, plus soup. This made things a lot easier for everyone. Not over busy but steady all the same.

31st

Had a bit of a gunky throat the last few days. Little like blisters at the back. Headache about gone now. I am sure it was caused by the physio I had.

Plant now almost like a hyacinth.

Well quite another mixed month again. At least I now have some help with my shoulder. Pain up and down as usual. I think we have had most types of weather too.

Next year I am thinking I might do more short Blogs than a months at a time.  Something I have bean thinking about. So look out there might be more in January.
All the best to every one and a Happy New Year to you all. Lets hope things improve next year. All the best Love Gill.
To end the year, is Summer all dressed in her Christmas suit.

Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year.
